CNS Training: Cultivating Donors

On November 18th CNS hosted a training session at the University of the Incarnate Word titled, Cultivating Donors: Nourishing Relationships and Soliciting Major Gifts.  The session was facilitated by Rosie Garcia-Pompa and Diane Echavarria both from the University of the Incarnate Word.
The workshop was to introduce the essentials of building lasting donor relationships and how to upgrade your fund development program to one that is "relationship based".

We had 34 attendees who gave the class very positive remarks. One of our participants noted, "One of the things I really liked about the session was having the chance to ask questions and the wealth of information provided during the presentation".

Whether you are looking for innovative ideas or a more traditional approach, CNS can help your nonprofit organization build capacity and develop solutions that advance your unique mission and vision through our creative and informative training sessions. Check out our 2011 calender and get ready to make the new year a grand success for your nonprofit.

Charity Donations: How to Give it Away Without Losing It All
The holidays are right around the corner and charitable giving has always been an important part of the season.

Americans donated more then $303 billion to charity last year, with a quarter of that coming between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

However, with so many people facing financial hardships, it is getting more difficult for many Americans to give.

As 2010 winds down, I wanted to answer a question that came up several times in response to my GuideStar Newsletter articles this year.

How do I keep my board engaged? Particularly if it's a statewide or national board?  This is a question I get all the time.  Everyone wants their board to be engaged, but... What do you really mean when you say an "engaged board?

Top 10 year-end fundraising strategies
The fall fundraising rush is upon us.  You are probably deep in your year-end fundraising campaign.  And this December should be a big one.

Growth in nonprofit consulting double-edged

Nonprofit consulting, in one form or another, has been part of the American landscape almost as long as their have been charities.

In the early 1800's, The American Sunday School Union and similar organizations were raising tens of thousands of dollars a year to build Sunday schools and colleges, and to send would-be ministers to school. says David Hammack, the Haydn Professor of History at Case Western Reserve University.
